This scheme applies to privately owned homes in the counties of Clare, Donegal, Limerick, Mayo and Sligo.
Owners of the property used as their principal private residence. Registered landlords with a tenancy registered with the Residential Tenancies Board on or before 1 November 2021 (limited to one rental property per household) subject to clawback if the property is sold within a set period.
A building professional must be engaged to produce a Building Condition Assessment (BCA) report (in line with standard I.S. 465) to determine if the home meets the damage threshold for the scheme.
The Defective Concrete Blocks Scheme offers five levels of remediation depending on the severity of damage, ranging from full demolition and rebuild on the same footprint to partial wall reconstruction.
