A Home Energy Assessment provides a clear plan to improve your home's energy efficiency and comfort, with expert upgrade recommendations, cost estimates, and tailored solutions.
Our process starts with a comprehensive 3D laser scan of your home, carried out by one of our expert surveyors. Following this, an SEAI-registered Technical Advisor evaluates your home's current BER, paving the way for a tailored upgrade plan designed to meet the highest standards. Once the plan is finalised, we’ll consult with you to ensure the solution is optimised for your home and needs—maximising your SEAI grant savings.
We'll carry out a detailed survey, usually within 2 weeks of you confirming your order.
We use a laser scanner to scan your home to record all of the geometric details with millimeter accuracy, which we then use to create a 3D model and drawings. This, in turn, is used to calculate your existing BER and provide detailed accurate designs and quotations for all measures of work included as part of your tailored retrofit plan.
The initial survey also includes digitally accurately recording all details of your home’s physical buildup such as your floor type, wall types, windows and doors, roof types, existing ventilation and heating system details.
The survey typically takes 2-3 hours to complete.
BER (Building Energy Rating) drawings are crucial for assessing a building’s energy efficiency and planning upgrades. They provide key details on insulation, ventilation, and heating systems, ensuring compliance with energy standards. These drawings help identify heat loss areas, optimize retrofit solutions, and support cost-effective energy improvements
We process the survey data to produce a drawing pack, usually within 1 week of receiving the data.
Once the survey is completed, our team of BIM Engineers will process the scan data and create a set of drawing package drawings within a week and will share this data with our independent BER Assessor.
We determined the Pre-BER of your home to establish a starting point.
This is carried out by an independent BER Assessor who aims to complete this within 2-3 weeks of receiving the drawing pack.
Why it’s needed?
You'll receive two preliminary home energy upgrade options along with estimated quotes for each. It's really important to plan your retrofit journey in a way that ensures that improvements are carried out in an organised, sensible order, with installations and refits complementing each other rather than working against each other. There are lots of elements to consider when planning your retrofit that have a direct impact on each other.
Our upgrade plans include recommendations that take into consideration items such as:
This is the most important step in the process, usually 1 week after the Pre-BER is complete, which involves one of our experienced Retrofit Advisors reviewing with you, at your home, online or in our office near you to review all of the following:
Our dedicated team of Retrofit Advisors will prepare detailed estimated costs of both retrofit plans within a week of receiving them from the BER Assessor.
The detailed estimated costs will allow you to decide what options represent the best value and enable you to make informed decisions on how best to tailor your retrofit plan.
Home Energy Assessment process will take approx. 6-8 weeks after Survey Stage
